Friday Food Forum

Grandma Sally's Famous Chili
On cool fall and cold winter nights, This hits the spot!

2 lbs Ground Beef
1 29oz Can Sun Vista Pinto Beans
2 16oz Cans Kidney Beans
2 14.5oz Cans Diced Tomatoes
1 8oz Can Hunts Tomato Sauce
1 Lrg Onion Diced
2 Long Fresh Green Chili Peppers Diced
1 Large Fresh Jalapeno Peppers Diced
1 Clove Garlic Minced
2 Tbsp Chili Powder
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Pepper
2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

1-Brown ground beef, onion, garlic, green peppers and jalapeno, add salt & pepper and cook until
onion is transparent in a large soup pot.
2-Add diced tomates, tomato sauce and chili pepper (I always add a bit more chili pepper). Stir cover and let simmer on low for 1 hour.
3- Keep the fire burning, Add pinto beans, liquid and all. Drain liquid from kidney beans and add to chili mixture. Continue to simmer for 30 min. (You can cut this recipe in half for a smaller family)
4- Serve and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
5- I also make corn bread with this recipe, Delicious!

(Live and Learn Tip: After dicing up peppers, keep fingers away from eyes and mouth. Wash hands well. Lol)
