Sunday's Story

What a week! Getting things situated with my brother even though it's been by phone has been exhausting to say the least. The California weather has once again taken a turn and it feels like summer is back with temps in the 90's,  What happened to Fall?

The hubby had to travel to Austin for meetings on Wednesday,  an overnight stay turned into a 2 night stay. After scrambling to find a flight home on Friday to make it to the Rodger Hodgson concert Friday night in Rancho Mirage, we managed to get one into Palm Springs International @7 pm ( This worked out well, being only 10 minutes from hotel and venue)

After checking in to hotel we headed downstairs for the show, ordered a much needed drink, took a deep breath and enjoyed the next few hours listening to this amazing performer sing songs that reminded me of younger days. I grew up listening to Supertramp,. My brother went to school with the drummer and knew members of the band personally.  Hearing Breakfast In America, Lord Is It Mine, Hide In Your Shell and Logical Song took us both back in time, it was really a great show!

We returned home yesterday after a late check out, picked up our puppy from the doggie hotel and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing.

Today I am proud to say my son in-law at this very moment is running The Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC, I've heard the east coast is getting hit rather hard so I know he's running like a Hurricane is coming (Hurricane Sandy) GO ALEX!!

Talked with my daughter (Marine Wife, Mommy & Life) its been raining pretty hard in NC, she and the boys didn't make the trip to DC because of the storm and are keeping dry inside getting ready to carve Halloween pumpkins, cheering Daddy on via the internet and cell phone.
The hubby and I are set to watch some Sunday Football "Go Eagles"! =)
Well that about wraps up my week here in Sunny So. Cal. I'm looking forward to the adventures of the week ahead. Have a great day everyone =) Life is Good!

Great NFL and Cancer Awareness Story

Referees to use pink penalty flags in Sunday's NY Jets-Miami Dolphins game to raise awareness for breast cancer Roger Goodell approves suggestion from New Jersey boy, Dante Cano, who wrote a letter to the NFL commissioner
Pink is the new yellow in the NFL. Referees working Sunday’s Jets game will call penalties by throwing pink flags to raise awareness for breast cancer. The color change was the brainchild of Dante Cano, an 11-year-old fifth-grader from Marlboro, N.J., who suggested the idea in a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Goodell invited Cano and his family to present the pink flags to referees before the start of Sunday’s game. “Dante had a great idea and I am looking forward to meeting with him on Sunday to put it into action,” Goodell said in a statement. “Sometimes the simplest ideas can be the best. I applaud Dante for sending in his recommendation.”

Thursday's Thoughts

The last weekend of the month is upon us already. We've been extremely busy helping my oldest brother out with organizing finances, talking to doctors, insurance agencies and getting everything organized with his home situation. He's been battling esophageal cancer for the past year and at the end of September he had to have surgery to remove the bottom portion of the esophagus and top portion of the stomach (Esophagectomy)
After spending 23 days in the hospital, he was discharged only to have to be re-admitted the next day. We got him situated in a recovery rehabilitation center on October 8th and it looks like he will continue to stay there until the 1st of the year. Recovery isn't easy and we know he's got a long hard road ahead of him.
Cancer has hit hard in our family. My oldest sister is a breast cancer survivor, the youngest of my 3 brothers is recovering from stage 4 throat cancer, my sister in-law is recovering from colon cancer and now my oldest brother with this, it's a tough battle. We've all had days that are so overwhelming and heartbreaking that we've had to ask when will it all end? All I know is God has been with us, our prayers run deep, he has given us all enough strength to be supportive in any way we can and to be thankful that they are surviving it one day at a time.
Life is so short, make amends where they are due, tell the people you care about how much you love them and how wonderful it is to have them in your life. You never know what tomorrow may bring.

God Bless

Tricks and Treats

Love sending out goodies to the grandkids. This year I put together a package for my oldest grandson that I just know he's going to love. Aside from the normal bag of treats filled with different candy and cute decorated lollipops, I added a few trick gifts from Spencer's (A Gag Gift Store). What 8 year old boy wouldn't love a magic 8 Ball, a Fake Pile of Doggie DooDoo and a Can of Nuts that pops open a giant springing worm? Hahaha Oh how I enjoy childhood fun =)
