My Mother

I often wonder what's kept her so strong all these years,  a mother of 6 grandmother of 21 great grandmother of 30 and great great grandmother of 2. Working hard all her life and raising a family wasn't easy, we have all had our problems and she's always been there for each and every one of us.
An old fashion girl with old fashion values, she and dad married during WWII and  celebrated 53 wonderful years together before he passed on in 1995. The kids all grown with kids of their own, she stayed strong and moved forward with life.
Tomorrow she turns 90 and still has her health. Everyone always says they can't believe how wonderful she looks for her age, how amazing it is that she hasn't had any major health issues, how she has always bounced back from any she has had and how great it is that she is so independent.  A strong woman indeed!!
There are so many things I've learned from this angel of a woman who I call Mom, I see so much of her in me and I am very proud of that.  We talk on the phone everyday, I hear the stories of life and the softness in her voice when she speaks of a fond memory. I hear the pain she feels for her children who have suffered and are suffering from cancer and I wonder as a mother how hard that must be. I hear the sorrow she expresses for family who haven't always made the right choices and the hope that we all find our way and live a happy healthy life. So many of you know  her and her heart of pure gold, how she has always put her children and family first before herself. I know every moment of every day how thankful I am, how blessed we all are for having her in our lives. Today tomorrow and always I will cherish her and all I that I have learned from her.
She has taught me how wonderful life is to live it being a positive and unselfish human being.
